The Rules of Engagement – Vanguard Shield Specialists

The Rules of Engagement – Vanguard Shield Specialists

The Rules of Engagement is the column that provides Republic Troopers with highly detailed intel on everything a Trooper needs to know to adapt and overcome on and off the battlefield.

Today’s piece will be an introduction to the Shield Specialist specialization for the Vanguard Advanced Class for those who have recently reached endgame or are looking ahead to gain familiarity with their Vanguard tank’s future arsenal. I will speak about some basic principles and give a few examples of more specific ability use during gameplay. Many of these areas will be broken down and delved into further in future articles and serve as a primer to answer the most pressing concerns for Vanguards looking to embark on the road of Shield Specialist tanking.

Lost Tales Of The Old Republic – Chapter Five: “Peace Is A Lie”, Part IV

Lost Tales Of The Old Republic - Chapter Five: 'Peace Is A Lie', Part IV

Lost Tales of the Old Republic is a weekly fan fiction story, written by RepublicTrooper.com’s very own Tim Bertram. Tim is an aspiring author, with one completed novel already under his belt. Each and every Monday, Tim will give you a fresh installment in the Lost Tales of the Old Republic series. Enjoy!

The team moved cautiously down the corridors deeper into the detention center. They passed several security droids that, had they not been deactivated at the command center, would have been attacking. “Hold up.” Gage ordered as they approached the last security lock. “Blaster, take a look.” Blaster moved up to the door slowly in a crouched position. He took a look through the window and responded ‘Clear’ into the comms channel. “Zeikk.” Gage nodded towards the door.

Zeikk stepped up and used the coded key they had acquired in the control room. As the door opened he was suddenly knocked into the door frame as Greasy pushed past dashing into the cellblock, Jenz following close behind. The block itself was easily a hundred meters deep lined on both sides with cells. With the security lockdown in place, they would have to open each cell individually. As Zeikk started with the closest cell, Greasy and Jenz ran down from cell to cell looking through the barred window in each door, sometimes calling into a cell to wake a sleeping individual. About half of the cells were occupied, most of them with Balmorrans. As the first bewildered citizens were set free from their cells, Gage and Rein briefly informed them of their impending escape and readied them for the exit. Blaster followed the two women as they searched for Thalin.

Always In Motion Is The Future – A Fully Automatic Mortar Volley Of Controversy

Always In Motion Is The Future - A Fully Automatic Mortar Volley Of Controversy

Always in Motion is The Future is our column that deals with general news and information regarding The Old Republic based facts and finally spiced with the unique perspective of Republic Trooper.

Full Auto and Mortar Volley are two of the Gunnery Commando’s bread and butter abilities. They are both received early in the leveling process (at level 3 and level 10, respectively) and not only do they help carry you to Level 50, they form a very important part of a Gunnery Commando’s DPS and utility at max-level.

The Weekend Furlough – Red Rancor Scaring Performance Out Of Your Machine!

The Weekend Furlough - Red Rancor Scaring Performance Out Of Your Machine!

When the weekend rolls around it’s time to relax, grab a cold one, sit down with your squad, and catch up on some scuttlebutt. RT is here to provide you with some things that are worthy of talking about over a good pint with a few friends.

One of the items that still seems to be everywhere in TOR these days is that of client graphics performance. While BioWare claims that many of the problems are due to individual machines I know people with solid rigs that experience some graphical anomalies when in-game. While there is no one fix to remedy every person’s graphical issues, Ashral over at Red Rancor put up a great video touching upon a few points that have helped many players achieve a smoother hyperspace journey.

The Rules Of Engagement – An In-Depth Look At End-Game Biochem

The Rules Of Engagement - An In-Depth Look At End-Game Biochem

The Rules of Engagement is the column that provides Republic Troopers with highly detailed intel on everything a Trooper needs to know to adapt and overcome on and off the battlefield.

As you have probably already read in some of the other articles on Republic Trooper, crafting is quite an essential part of any MMO. Some people choose their crafting skill based on what could make them a better player. Others choose to craft for their guild. Quite a few people choose to craft for money. I can tell you now that Biochem has a very high potential for making money. However, I have chosen to craft consumable buffs for my guild so that we may embark on the wonder of end-game content and have great success doing it.
