I spent 8 years in the U.S. Marines, but I was a gamer before that, haha! I got my first computer while living in Japan and the first piece of software I bought for it was Bard’s Tale! Also prior to the Marine Corps, I played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons, so gaming was in my blood.
The good Lord blessed me in that I never had to see combat, nor take another’s life, but I did have to sit home while my son fought the war in Iraq, where he lost several friends. So a lot of his stories, or rather how he interacted with his troops as a squad leader in a real war, was really helpful in putting the first chapter together. For example: When Red squad comes under fire in chapter 1, they take action by retuning fire, but then get up and rush the enemy, right into the enemy fire. That is a definitive U.S. Marine tactic in non-urban warfare, that’s how we are trained, and it scares the crap out of our enemies. You shoot at us, and instead of hiding, we rush you LOL!

The ‘shot from the hip’ stuff does not bother me. It’s a game in a fantasy setting right? I also play first person shooter, like Battlefield 3, so I get my ‘realism fix’ there ;) What I really wanted to do with Gage is have people get a feel for that rigid life, where these soldiers on the surface are hard, tough, and sometimes seem unfeeling and robotic, but the truth is that when they are alone with their thoughts, their brothers, and for many their God, they are as human as any of us. Gage has a mom and dad back home, Greasy has her love, Blaster loved a little sister that died at the hands of the Empire, and so on.

Lastly for you, Wong, thanks for the kind words, and do you live in Malaysia? I only ask because I remotely just worked with a guy from there to help them configure a virtual server. It was in the city of Petaling Jaya. Just thought it was interesting that the day you posted I was talking with a guy from Malaysia.

Just started a Trooper and have him at LVL 25. Commando/Assault. I play a 50 Merc as well. So am guessing that the stats are primarly the same. Yes? Played WoW for a long time up to the time when Star Wars came out and I have to say I am having a blast thus far.

Hey all not that new to the mmo scene been playing lotro since it came out so not my first. The trooper was my first class though I made him a commando for the simple fact I'm dps not tank. I'm on the PvP server infinite empire so enjoying it pretty good he's lvl 24 on Nar Shaddaa. Havin a blast. Hope you guys do too.
